Is subaru owned by toyota, or are they partnering with toyota?
(2010-05-29 14:21:38) 1. Says: If they are owned by toyota is that going to influence the quality of which subaru is made? The latest subaru I own is an '06 and i heard they "merged" in '07. I'm wondering if the quality has decreased? or is it just a partnership?2. Says: In 2005, Toyota purchased 8.7% ownership stake of Fuji (who owns Subaru) from GM.3. Says: If im not wrong Subaru is owned by Fuji Heavy indsutries.4. Says: Subaru, the major part of Fuji Heavy Industries, is its own firm. What a loss it would be to have Toyota, for example, or Ford, buy them and turn one of the hottest if not THE hottest mass market passenger car maker today into a milk toast, plain vanilla offering like Toyota.ADDED:
Nope, Sean, you're only partly right about Mitsubishi building the Zero. See Nakajima Aircraft at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuji_Heavy_Industries
Apparently several aircraft were called "Zero," including the one built by Nakajima, which was reborn (The Allies bombed the hell out of two of their factories; Zeros were too good to allow them to continue being made.) after the war as Fuji Heavy Industries. You should read your history more fully.5. Says: Two things...Subaru is a division of Fuji Heavy Industries, which Toyota purchased a portion of, which is a controlling stake of Subaru. So far, Toyota hasn't affected anything of Subaru (Except perhaps the ugly that is the 08+ Impreza), at least not quality-related. They have made the higher performance Subarus more boring and pedestrian, though, more Toyota-like. Secondly, Fuji Heavy Industries did not make the Japanese Zero, that was Mitsubishi. Might want to look up history for that, so someone who uses that for a defense, I wouldn't listen to.6. Says: Toyota hasn't affected subaru? What are you smokin?! What do u call the toyobaru aka ft-86 that's suppose to sold in america next year? Luckily they're manufactured in subaru's factories so getting our gas peddle stuck is not gonna likely happen. But to me, i'd say that a partnership is the beginning signs of an influence.7. Says: Subaru is partnering with Toyota Tag: Is subaru owned by toyota, or are they partnering with toyota?
