A 2007 Ford Mustang v6?

1. Mike Says: Well, im turning 16 in 10 days, and ill be going for my drivers test for my liscense. Ive been saving money for the past year for a car.. I made about 5,000$... My parents and I found a nice 2007 Ford mustang, its a dark red, its a v6 and it only has 20,000 miles on it.. They are asking 12,900.. I have a job and I would pay off the rest. My dad made a loan for the rest of the car.

My question is, do you think its alright for me, a 16 year old guy to get a mustang? All my friends think its cool. They also have vehicles. Some have 2006 civics, some have trucks. So I wouldnt be the only one with a car.
2. Shelby Says: First of all. I think any 15 year old guy, that saved $5000 on his own deserves a great deal of respect. It shows a level of responsibility that is to be commended.

I have seen a lot of young people with that same kind of sense and I am always proud and excited to help them with their first vehicle purchases.

Now a few things about the Mustang and some sensible advise:
You may have learned how to drive with a front wheel drive vehicle.
Most Drivers Ed cars are FWD (front wheel drive).
The Mustang is Rear wheel drive so it will take a little practice to get used to the differences.
Rear wheel drive cars are a little trickier when driving on wet pavement or in snow.
Be careful when starting from a complete stop. The rear end can slip out from under a bit... especially when accelerating too quickly and ESPECIALLY if you are on wet pavement. The 07 v6 mustang has around 200 horsepower and I doubt that the Drivers Ed cars have that much power so take your time in getting accustomed to proper acceleration. You seem like a responsible guy, so remember that you don't HAVE to beat anybody to the destination.... (but if you are in front of me.. get out of my way, because *I* DO have to beat everybody! :P <JK>)

You might want to learn about maintaining the Mustang. If you are going to be paying for the loan (that your folks, so graciously, took out on your behalf)you'll want to keep it running good for longer than the loan period , and proper maintenance is key.

This link is for a down-loadable Maintenance guide for the '07 Mustang:
http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WO7MUS/~MUS~LEN/40/07frdmg1e.pdf
After you buy the car I encourage you to register your vehicle there and you can receive additional advice, documents (like the other manuals) for the car, and other owner benefits (such as a quarterly magazine, <--which often has coupons for maintenance) , and other information.

I think the Mustang is a great first car for a responsible young person and I wish you many happy and safe miles with it! Enjoy! (and have a safe and Happy Birthday too)
:)
3. ken k Says: you are taking written test for permit/what does the insurance company say about mustang/16 year old males with mustangs have 99% splat rate/insurance companys dont like the odds
4. stangace20 Says: if you're parents can afford the insurance before and after you have an accident.
5. Kenneth Says: dude i dont know most people wreck thier first car.I wouldnt want it for my first car id wait about 2 or 3 years.
6. if u aint first ur last Says: If I were you I would look for a 99-04 mustang mainly because you could buy that car cash and won't have to pay off a loan for how ever many years. Then that money that would have gone to the loan spend it on other things. Goodluck!
7. Speedy Says: it all depends on u and the type of person u are. i would personaly suggest get another car. i believe a truck is a good first car. because there built tougher and arent as tempting to speed. i would concider myself a responcible person but sometimes the thrill of driving a sports car gets to u. my first car was a 2002 mustang v6 when i was 17. i fixed it up beautifly with rims and some parts under the hood. i was not only driving way to fast with my friends but i was a target for cops. in 1yr i had the car i was pulled over 6times. recieved 4tickets and had my car searched 1time. cops dont like to see teenagers driving those cars and will make ur life harder. i only deserved 1of my tickets wich was speeding, the other 3were just the cops being asses. (not making a complete stop at a stop sign, music to loud and it wasnt even loud at all, and window tints wich were not even dark at all) with that car ur gonna attract allot of attention good and bad but i say the bad outweighs the good in this case specialy cuz tickets are xpensive and insurance shoots up. i was paying 435 a month and now that i drive an F150 im paying 118 so think about it really good
