General parts question?
(2010-05-29 14:56:39) 1. Says: so i have a 89 gmc truck and it may sound stupid but i need to know what the rubber hose is called that runs from the front brakes to the back brakes its like 7 or 8 feet long and when i go to the parts counter and describe this to the parts guy he just kinda stares at me2. Says: He stares at you because there should be no rubber hoses in your brake system (DANGEROUS!!!!). Only steel tubing and very short sections of flexible reinforced rubber tubing near the pistons. Have it looked at by a GMC mechanic! (before a catastrophic brake failure)3. Says: thats because rubber is not used....its a hard line...stainless steel is best but plain is common4. Says: I'd stare too.I'm baffled
brake lines are metal, so that's out....
???5. Says: i think what your staring at is the drive shaft and honey its not rubber. lol6. Says: Don't know of any lines that run directly from the front brakes to the back brakes on any type of vehicle. And brake systems do not use any rubber, not even the seal boots are rubber. And it is far more than 7 or 8 feet from the front brakes to the back brakes. No wonder the parts man looks at you a little funny. Take it to Autozone and maybe one of them will come out and look it over and help you out. Tag: General parts question?
