04' Kia Rios Tranny problem?

1. jack g Says: My Kia Rios 1.6 liter has a 5 speed manual trans w/ transfer case & when attempting to shift from 1st to 2nd it wouldn't engage & it's a hit & miss situation. Sometimes it will & sometimes it won't. Sitting still with the engine off I can go into any gear. Now if this was older model American car I would figure it would be the throw-out bearing but these foreign, front wheel drives are unfamiliar territory for me. Can anybody help? Thanks.
