2000 Jetta Electrical Short?

(2010-05-29 15:52:15)
1. getoutoftheboat Says: Yesterday I was adjusting my sunroof when my 2000 Jetta window switches shorted out, the remote lock/unlock stopped working, and the sunroof stopped working too. I checked all the fuses, including the two under the dash above the kick panel. One (#14) was blown, but when it was replaced it didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?
2. gti_4cefed4 Says: Check fuses #30 and #38 in the panel at the end of the dash, those are the other two that are moonroof and central locking related. #14 is for the interior lights and the central locking system. After replacing that fuse do your map and dome lights at least work now? If all 3 of those fuses are good, you may have to take your car to the dealer or a VAG-COM owner to have them scan the central locking module for stored codes to get to the bottom of the issue.
