Lamborghini has always been the big one. Ferrucio Lamborghini used to build tractors but after buying a Ferrari and criticizing it he decided to build a better sports car which became the Miura.

Pagani on the other hand have delved into the world of incredibly expensive yet incredibly exclusive hand-made carbon fibre hypercars, with multiple iterations of a Mercedes-Benz AMG-developed V12.
