1. Rebecca Says: i need to know where to look for the numbers off of my corvette engine so i can "run them" and compare this engine to my new chevy 350 to decide which one i should put in my el camino
2. Redneck Says: Block casting numbers/ RPO numbers are located on the drivers side of the engine, at the back of the head on the transmission mounting flange. Block suffix numbers are located on the pad in front of the passenger head, at the mating surface between the head and the block. If your block has been decked to help raise the compression or just to true up the head mounting surface, the numbers may have been removed during the process. Head casting numbers are located on top of the head, in the center. So this means you will have to remove the valve cover to get these.
3. chevyraceman_383 Says: I really say the whole '70 vette 350 is BS. Thats a rare engine. Its the LT1 350 making 370 HP gross. (in net rating like we use today that would be about 340 hp)

You will need 3 sets of #'s off the block.
Rear drivers side on flange where trans bolts too is the casting #. It tells the size of engine and years it was used through.

Over on same flange, towards center is the date code, that will decode as the... Mo, day and year of that engine

Next is the suffix code. It will tell size, what it was installed in, HP, etc, Its on front pass side of block. In front of head on a machined pad and alittle up towards intake.

The specs on the 70 LT1 corvette 350 are
