X5 with 150000 miles?
(2010-05-29 16:53:19) 1. Says: is a 2001 bmw x5 with 150k miles bad idea to buy???2. Says: HiNo, it's not a bad idea.
My 12 year old 3 Series has nearly 300,000 miles on the clock and is in excellent condition.
The biggest problem with an X5 with 150,000 is the suspension as it's a big and heavy car! If they've not been replaced already, you will need to check the suspension (springs / dampers and all linkages, bushes etc). It's not unusual for all of these to need replacing (costing several thousand $'s if everything needs replacing).
Don't let this put you off, it's a great car, get it checked over by a mechanic and use any "problems" as a bargaining tool to get them to drop the price,
Andy3. Says: It really depends on the price of the x5 and your own personal discretion. But I'm going to guess that it's a bad idea. Buying anything with over 150,000 miles is generally an unwise investment, as it will turn into a money pit to keep it running.4. Says: Yes and no. It is a bad idea to buy any car with over 150K but it also depends how much you buying it for. If you are gonna buy it for over 5K then no!! Thiongs will just break, seals will leak and parts/service for them tend to be a lil more than your regular ole Hondas lol.5. Says: YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a very Bad investment! Its very apparent you want it for the BMW label, but then again who doesnt? You can own a BMW but do yourself a favor and dont invest in this vehcile, get another BMW with lower mileage! The X5 your interested in is prone to give you problems, dont get me wrong BMWs are great cars!!!! but they do have alot of problems, electrical, pump, leaks, engine failures, tire ware, etc etc. Tag: X5 with 150000 miles?
