1. shayan Says: give me something thats fast and expensive and something thats cheaper about 30 - 40 grand ...
2. stangace20 Says: Just because you can afford a car, doesn't mean you can handle it. And since you stated this will be your first car, you basically admitted you have little if any experience driving what-so-ever. Yet being what I would assume is another dumbass teenager you want a fast car just cause?
(where have I heard this before?)

To be more practical/nice I would say just get a honda or something until other people (besides just you) would think/agree you know what you're doing. But if you want a fast car go ahead and get one. And make sure someone has a camera around when you wreck it,lol

Cause as far as I can tell

Fast Car + Dumb kid + No experience + Ego/Attitude = CRASH!!!!!!! (every time)

Ask any insurance agent, they will tell you the exact same thing.

But if there's no way of talking sense into you I would just say when you go to insure the car take some of the money for the car insurance for the Rolls and put some of it into a life insurance policy while you're down there, lol
3. The Rev Says: You believe that you deserve a 30-40k first car?
4. <3 Says: 1968 mustang supercharge..=p
5. AMac4108 Says: A new Shelby Super Snake or a New Shelby GT (for the cheaper one) or a used Shelby GT500 you could put in your 30-40k list
6. Sean Says: 1987 honda civic hatchback. $500 at an auction. That way, when you total it in 3 weeks, your dad isn't out $30-40k, and you couldn't afford insurance on a car that expensive, nor could you handle a fast car.
7. Mad Jack Says: I have a much better idea than a Mustang.

Think U.S. Legend cars.

Get the fast Mustang. You quickly learn that even the fastest Mustang can not outrun the Motorola. It won't be long and you will be using public transportation. That is after you get out of jail.

When racing, things can go horribly wrong in an instant. There will be an ambulance on site with EMT technicians. Help will be there in seconds. How long would you have to wait for help when street racing. Do you expect your buddies to help? No, they will be getting the heck out of there so they aren't caught.

When racing on a track there will be a rule book and officials to enforce the rules. This does a couple of things for you. First, there will be rules regarding safety equipment and vehicle construction to give you a chance of surviving a crash. Your vehicle and equipment will be inspected.

Also, a rule book will help level the playing field. You will be racing against equally prepared vehicles so you have a fair chance.

When racing on a track you will have some competition. Vehicles and drivers will be classified so you will be racing against other vehicles and drivers with similar capabilities.

Most tracks will have entry level classes for someone who is starting out and on a budget.

You won't have any trouble finding anyone to race. You could be on a track with 20 or more of your friends.

You won't be breaking the law. On a track you can go as fast as your abilities permit and not have to worry about huge fines, high insurance rates, or ending up in jail.

There will be lots of spectators. Who knows, you might even end up with a few fans. It's kind of cool to have someone come up to you and ask you for your autograph.

On the street the only one asking you for your autograph is the cop having you sign your ticket. Get used to public transportation for a long, long, time.

There is no money in street racing. You will be abusing your car and breaking parts with little to show for it.

When racing on a track there are opportunities for sponsorship to help with expenses. Most racing classes pay money. This will also help with expenses. You may not come out ahead, but you will do much better than what you would do on the street.

With your budget you should be more than able to buy a new competitive car, trailer, and safety equipment.

These things are not toys.
73" wheel base
1250cc Yamaha motorcycle engine making 122 HP
1300 lbs with driver giving a very good power to weight ratio.
Racing tube chassis, roll cage, and coil over suspension.

The newest class is the Thunder Roadster series. Open wheel, open cockpit. The twin turbochargers make them very fast. Very cool. These can also be setup for road racing. However since these are relatively new I wonder how hard it would be to find a track that races these.

They race these things on both paved and dirt tracks. Paved tracks give high G cornering. Dirt tracks is the best experience in drifting.

I would sure like to know where you can find a Lamborgini that is not a total POS for $30,000 to $40,000.

Apparently from your added comments you don't have the guts to drive a real race car in real competition.

Then you may as well get the 6 banger base model Mustang.
8. Adam Says: i think your first kind of mustang should be a 1993 Ford Mustang Fox 5.0 Notchback this car is very fast
9. Randy K Says: I have to agree with a 1991 to 1993 Fox body Mustang. Your best bet would be a 1993 Mustang Cobra. GT-40 Heads, roller motor, good looking, fast car, or for more money, a 2001-2003 Saleen Mustang. Rare, fast, and handles like it on rails.
10. DAT GUY Says: I think you could get a used Dodge Viper in that price range.. but dont get the Shelby they kept the same ancient suspension on those as the standard Mustang, it just cant handle that 500hp in the corners. Get the Fox body 'Stang.
11. Clay Says: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net
12. if u aint first ur last Says: For 30-40g the fastest stock gt will be the new 2011 GT 412hp. Hmmm but I would say shoot for a 99-04 mustang (bc 05-09 look ugly) super charge it and a few bolt on's and you got a quick little check car.
