1. nascarguy16 Says: ok, so im looking under the truck a few days ago, after I bought it, and I notice that it has skid plates... and is an inch shorter than a 4WD ( Old highway tires). But this truck does not have the decals. The previous owner was my uncle so he didn't take off any decals. Is there any way I can check to see if it is a Z71? Don't have the sticker anymore. Is there anywhere under the truck I can look? Thanks.
2. seattlesailor2000 Says: Z71 is a gm build code, you can check your build sheet to see what codes are on it. here is a site with gm build codes. btw the Z71 code is at the very bottom of the list.

hope this helps
3. Stangman Says: Don't bother looking around. There is no such thing as a 2wd Z71, because the z71 package specifically adds: 4wd, skidplates, appearance package, and a towing package, among other things.
4. jumbobret Says: Call GM with the VIN#
5. Matthew Says: If you still have the owners manual write down the VIN number and compare it to the manual. Also I am not arguing with you but I have NEVER heard of a 2WD Chevrolet I had a 94 Z71 a few years ago.
6. Giggity Giggity Goo (Chris G) Says: No, you cannot have the Z-71 suspension package on a 2WD, at least not a 2WD thats newer than 2007. The 2WD Z-71 didn't start until 2007 new body style on Silverados and Avalanches, and 2005 on Tahoes and Suburbans. They have skid plates as a stand alone option on 2WD trucks, but it is not the Z-71 package.
