While using my air conditioning my car has less power and almost stalls out while idling. What causes this?
(2010-05-30 09:34:02) 1. Says: Its a 2000 Ford Focus. Just had transmission work done on it. I dont know if this was a problem pre-work or not because it wasnt warm enough for the ac.2. Says: the ac runs off the engine..its additional drag. perhaps your engine isnt working at full efficiency, and the added strain stalls itget a tune up3. Says: You should have this checked - the computer is programmed to compensate for the extra load when the AC compressor engages and should maintain the idle speed.4. Says: The AC compressor takes power from the engine to run, this shows up as drag.5. Says: It's a drag on engine and decreases the mileage in city driving.
