Tightening up the Distributor Cap Seems to have cured Most or All of the Car's Problems?

1. Wise Talking Cat Named Binky Says: Can the Difference between "Loose Cap, oh no i need Wires, the Distributor is bad, etc" and tight Cap be THAT Drastic?

It seems to be on mine..

Now i turn the key and it -Instantly- Starts! Like, at the time or before the key even goes back to the "Ignition On" Position, its running....

Shall i now leave it alone, or continue to Check things?

2. STEVEN F Says: A loose distributor cap CAN, and probably will, have ALL the symptoms of a bad distributor and/or bad wires. If all the symptoms are gone, I wouldn't worry. If you want to test things, it probably won't hurt anything other than your wallet.

3. idontgivafork Says: binky all cars have problems, and 99% of the time they are not life threatening.do your normal upkeep,and dont go looking for problems, because they are there.there is no perfect condition machine.its nice your curious,but leave it alone awhile.i to enjoy working on a machine, but sometimes you just have to wait for a problem before you repair it.

4. Bear Says: a loose distributor cap will make the car run rough or not at all. If it is good now leave it alone!

5. bandit_60 Says: if the distributor cap is loose then it can move with you. it has to be tight.
