How often should I recharge my A/C for my car?
(2010-05-30 10:04:49) 1. Says: I have a Mitsu Galant 02 and I got the A/C recharged last year and were I live we have had a couple of hot days. When I put on the A/C for the first time it worked for like 5 mins then it wouldn't get cold anymore. Do I need to recharge it again ???? If so, is this going to be a yearly thing I will have to do? Or, is it something else wrong ???? HELP2. Says: I have had a 1996 Chevy Cavalier and have never recharged it. I guess its just luck3. Says: just have it recharged again. it probably has a small leak in the system somewhere. you can recharge it yourself for about 15 dollars if u know how to do it.4. Says: Once you charge a cars a/c it should last all year. it sounds like you have a leak. have a mechanic... one who specializes in a/c look at it for you. your compressor may be leaking. or a a/c line may have a leak. i would not spend the $$$ again until you have it checked. good luck. hope this helps.5. Says: You need to have a leak detection performed. Then if you have no leak you need to evaporate the system.
This cannot be done yourself, a shop has to do it as it requires a special machine.
If you don't have a leak, you need to have it evaporated to pull everything out of the lines. (water, old frion, etc.)
After you get it evaporated, and there are no leaks, then, and only then, can you go to autozone and do the frion part yourself. (Not recommended)
If this does'nt help, email me.
