When to change timing belt?

Within that period, I follows the service schedule set by manufactures and even send my car to the manufacturer's service center. But they never said anything about changing the timing belt. My friend who using car for about 2 years said she has been urged to change timing belt by her mechanics. I am confused. If there is nothing in it under scheduled maintenance, then ask at the dealer where you have the car serviced. You can bet they will let you know when it's time to have it changed.
